Description

Develop your drawing and painting skills by experimenting with a range of media, styles and techniques; the initial emphasis will be on observational skills and still-life. This course will cover elements including, colour theory for painting skin tones, wet-on-wet abstract watercolour techniques as well as encouraging learners to research artists of their choice and study their works. This course is suitable for both returning learners from Painting and Drawing for Beginners Part 1, and those who are complete beginners as each session is unique

What will I learn?
During this course you will use a number of drawing and painting techniques in your work and research artists to develop your own ideas and style. You will produce drawings and paintings based on observation and complete at least two life drawing studies from a nude model.

What will I need to take part?
Please bring sketchbook or drawing paper; drawing pencils, eraser, colour pencils, watercolour paints; any brushes, paint pallet and water pots that you may already have. A pen and notebook may be useful if you would like to make notes. You should bring reading glasses if you need them.

What to expect
The course will be taught by demonstration, step by step exercises, 1-1 encouragement pair work and self-evaluation. Tutors use Google Classroom to help make course resources available both during and between sessions. Please take advantage of joining your Classroom when invited to do so. Where can it lead to?
As well as the pleasure of practising your newfound skills and techniques at home you may want to take a further course, or search tutorials online for different ideas and ways of painting. Why not start to build a portfolio of your creation and maybe even plan to sell some of your work at a local eventt? Your tutor can help you with some more ideas.
