What will I learn?
Step into the world of figurative sculpture in this inspiring one day workshop designed for beginners and curious creatives. Guided by an experienced tutor, you’ll explore how to shape the human form in clay, developing both your observational skills and your confidence as a maker. This hands on session is perfect for anyone wanting to try something new, expand their artistic practice, or simply enjoy a day of creative exploration.

Note book and pen, appropriate clothing and an apron.

What to expect
During this one day workshop, you will: - Learn how to observe and interpret the human figure, focusing on shape, balance, and proportion. - Build a simple armature or base structure to support your sculpture. - Explore techniques for constructing the body, including modelling limbs, torso, and posture. - Understand how to add movement, character, and expression to your figure. - Use essential sculpting tools to refine details and develop form. - Experiment with surface texture and finishing options. - Create your own clay figure to be fired and collected at a later date. - By the end of the workshop, you’ll have gained practical sculpting skills, a better understanding of figurative form, and a unique hand crafted sculpture to showcase your creativity.

Course eligibility and fees
This adult learning course is available to residents of Northamptonshire who are: - aged 19 or over on 31st August in the funding year - living in England, outside a devolved adult skills funding area. - ordinarily resident in England on the first day of learning. - Resident in England for the duration of your learning. If you don't meet the above requirements, including some international students or people not ordinarily resident in the UK, you will not be able attend this course. Asylum seekers may be eligible to attend in some circumstances, including where they have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered, or where they receive certain types of local authority support. Fees are payable on enrolment as published on the booking page. If you are in receipt of certain benefits or in employment and earning below £25,750 a year, you may be eligible for reduced fees. Under certain circumstances you may be asked to provide evidence of your identity, residency, prior qualifications and where relevant, benefits or income.
