Description

You should have completed Part 1 to join this 10 week Part 2.
Come and learn foundation skills and techniques to get your playing and improving on your acoustic guitar. Play and learn within a small friendly group and enjoy learning modern and classic songs to play on your own and with others. For best results, come ready to practise between sessions!

What will I learn?
You will learn foundation skills and techniques to help get you playing and improving – such as tuning, common major and minor chord shapes and developing your sense of rhythm. You will enjoy learning a variety of modern and classic songs to play on your own as well as playing along with other musicians.

What will I need to take part?
Bring a fully strung and working guitar and come ready to join in! Also please bring a plectrum and a spare set of strings for good measure. Handouts will be provided as ongoing memory aids and points of reference. Be prepared to practise at home to make the most of this course.

What to expect
Weekly sessions will include practical demonstrations and explanations of techniques and theories needed for each task. Individual support will be offered as required. Tutors use Google Classroom to help make course resources available both during and between sessions. Please take advantage of joining your Classroom when invited to do so. Where can it lead to?
Learning a musical instrument can give as much pleasure as you like over a lifetime of playing. You can take further group or individual lessons (your tutor will advise) and join in playing with formal and informal ensembles or simply enjoy the wellbeing from making music at home.

Course eligibility and fees
This adult learning course is available to residents of Northamptonshire who are: - aged 19 or over on 31st August in the funding year - living in England, outside a devolved adult skills funding area. - ordinarily resident in England on the first day of learning. - Resident in England for the duration of your learning. If you don't meet the above requirements, including some international students or people not ordinarily resident in the UK, you will not be able attend this course. Asylum seekers may be eligible to attend in some circumstances, including where they have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered, or where they receive certain types of local authority support. Fees are payable on enrolment as published on the booking page. If you are in receipt of certain benefits or in employment and earning below £25,750 a year, you may be eligible for reduced fees. Under certain circumstances you may be asked to provide evidence of your identity, residency, prior qualifications and where relevant, benefits or income.
