Description

In a tutor led environment, learners will be able to hone the skills they gained in both Part 1 and Part 2.This course focuses on making a tailored pair of trousers with a fly zip and side pockets.. Learners will continue to build their confidence in both modifying commercial patterns and on finishing a garment to a high standard. Alongside making the trousers, learners will carry on building their portfolio of samples to take with them onto future dressmaking projects.  

What will I learn?
Hone your skills and build on techniques learned in part 2. This course encourages learners to become familiar with using a commercial pattern, plus copying and tracing from multi-patterns. In the 10 week part 3 you will try different construction methods such as a raglan jacket/coat and/or a project of your own choosing alongside class work. We will be using patterns from Lotta Jansdotter Everyday Style: Key Pieces to Sew + Accessories, Styling, and Inspiration.

What will I need to take part?
A notebook and pen if you wish to take notes. All resources are provided For the first session, a sewing machine and a sewing kit. Fabric and a pattern.

What to expect?
This is a face-to-face course, taught with demonstrations, 1:1, handouts, practical work and product samples. Tutors use Google Classroom to help make course resources available both during and between sessions. Please take advantage of joining your Classroom when invited to do so. What can it lead to?
Following your course, you can choose your own projects to suit your own styles and taste. Youtube has many dressmaking channels for any level, such as Made to Sew, Evelyn Wood or Annika Victoria. Look forward to the satisfaction and potential savings you can make from using and developing your dress making skills!

This course is for residents of Northamptonshire aged 19+. Fees are payable on enrolment as published on the booking page. If you are in receipt of certain benefits or in employment and earning a low salary, you could be eligible for reduced fees.
