Description

This introductory course will help you to start communicating with people who are deaf or have hearing loss, through the medium of basic sign language. The course will cover the fundamentals of British Sign Language, including handshapes, facial expressions and grammar, as well as deaf culture and awareness.  

Course aim
To be able to communicate with people who are deaf or have hearing loss, through the medium of basic sign language.

Course Outcomes
a) Finger spell basic everyday names and words using 2 handed deaf alphabet b) Sign some everyday verbs and things (objects etc.) c) Demonstrate signing simple conversations d) Recognise simple conversation e) Develop some basic deaf awareness
