Description

To develop your confidence and skills with maths and gain a City & Guilds certificate at the level appropriate to your learning.  

What will I learn?
You will develop your confidence and skills in Maths and assess your working level through practical applications and diagnostic work. You will become familiar with Maths terminology and methodology and to apply knowledge and understanding of Maths to everyday situations.. You will prepare for a full Functional Skills Qualification in Maths at the appropriate level.

What will I need to take part?
We recommend that you have a basic calculator, a pencil, a pen and a notepad during the session, further resources are provided in Google Classroom. If this is an online course, a laptop, PC or tablet and a stable internet connection will be needed.

What to expect?
ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English. The course will be taught with lots of practical elements including group, paired, and individual work. If this is an online course, classes and resources will be delivered through google classroom. You will also be asked to complete an initial assessment prior to starting this course so that we can assign you to a course appropriate to your level of learning

Where can it lead to?
You will work towards gaining a City and Guilds qualification at the level appropriate to your learning. Qualifications are designed to develop maths skills and build confidence in using maths in everyday life, education, and employment. Having developed your skills and knowledge in the course subject, you could try other courses or use the skills you have learned in your work or personal life.

Course eligibilty and fees
ESOL courses are free for learners that are unemployed and in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance, Employment.Support Allowance, Universal Credit or employed and earning below £25,000 per year. Learners who earn over that amount are still welcome to attend the course, but will be expected to make a financial contribution forr each unit which you can pay as you go. To be eligible for an ESOL course for free you must also meet our eligibility requirements. This includes having lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years and if from an EU/EEA country must have a pre -settled or settled status, this rule does not apply for those granted a refugee status. UK nationals in an EEA country do not qualify unless they have recently returned to the UK. International students can still enrol on this course but will not have access to funding and will have to pay a financial contribution for each unit which can be paid as you go. Eligibility requirements for a free ESOL course are summarised below.
