Description

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses are for people whose first language is not English. You will develop your English language skills, build confidence and work towards an ESOL qualification. This will help you gain the necessary skill.

What will I learn?
You will increase your confidence in English and develop your writing skills including spelling, grammar and punctuation, whilst working towards an ESOL Skills for Life qualification at an appropriate level for you. This will help you gain the necessary skills that may be required for employment, further education and day-to-day life in the UK. By the end of this course, you will be able to: Apply the process of planning and drafting when writing a text Complete different forms accurately Use correct grammar, verb tenses and punctuation in writing

What will I need to take part?
We recommend that you bring a notepad and pen to the lessons. Resources will be provided in Google Classroom. If this is an online course, a laptop, PC or tablet and a stable internet connection will be needed

What to expect?
ESOL courses have different levels. Before the course starts, you will complete an initial assessment to make sure you join a class that is the right level for you. Each course consists of two 2-hour lessons each week and lasts for approximately 11 weeks. You will progress faster if you complete all your homework and practice as much as you can at home. If you are doing an online course, you will be sent the Google Classroom joining information and the link for the live video lessons by email, prior to the start date of the course.

Where can it lead to?
You could progress to the next ESOL unit, and once you have completed all 3 units: Writing, Reading and Speaking and Listening, you could move up to the next level. We provide courses for Entry 1 to Level 2 learners, so there is lots of potential for further study. Information, advice and guidance on further learning and progression will be available during the course.

Course eligibity and fees
You must not already have a Level 2 full qualification in ESOL. Learners who are eligible for full funding from the ESFA will not be charged a fee for the course, including exams, resources or awarding organisation registration and fees.
