Description

6 week introductory course for learners looking to progress onto Childcare or Health & Social Care.
May be suitable for learners looking for a refresher, or investigating potential career paths.  

Course Aim
This introductory course aims to develop learners' understanding of a range of settings in the Health and Social Care and Childcare sector, a range of job roles, qualities and responsibilities in the Health and Social Care and Childcare sector. The purpose of this course is to support learners to understand each sector in more detail with the outlook of progression onto higher level accredited courses relating to either Health and Social Care or Childcare.

Course Outcomes
Week 1: Enrolment and Overview - Ensure all enrolment paperwork is completed and processed - Complete a detailed overview of the course - Discuss course materials and online platforms Weeks 2-3: Health and Social Care These weeks will be dedicated to the foundational principles of Health and Social Care. Key concepts to include: - Role of the practitioner - What is the HSC sector - Partnership working in HSC - Communication Weeks 4-5: Early Years The focus will shift towards early years. These weeks will be dedicated to exploring early years education and the sector. Key concepts to include: - The role of the EYP - What is Early Years and Education - Early childhood development Week 6: IAG (Information advice and guidance) and Progression This session will focus on next steps and progression. - Look at suitable courses on the adult learning website - Make a progression plan - Discuss challenges - Discuss overall progression of the course and address any questions or concerns.

How will the Course be Taught?
The course will be taught online via Google Classroom. Length and duration of the course: 6 weeks, 2-hour sessions

Could I Gain a Certificate?
This course is not accredited but you will receive acknowledgement and evidence that you have completed this introductory course. The progression from this course leads to accredited courses with NCFE CACHE as the awarding body.

What do I need to bring / have ready?
All our learning resources are available on our online platform Google Classroom, therefore access to a PC, laptop, phone and internet would be beneficial for you to access the materials at home if you wish to develop your learning and understanding further.

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements: - You should be over 19+ by 31.08 in the academic year you wish to study (Please note: You will be required to complete an online initial assessment to join this course). Admissions process: After you register your interest a member of our team will contact you to arrange the next steps. Eligibility: If you are in receipt of jobseeker's allowance, employment support allowance, or any other means-tested UK benefit (and your income excluding benefits is less than £617 per month or £988 per month for a joint benefit claim), or you are employed and earning less than £20,319 per year you will be eligible to attend this course for free. Even If you don't meet these criteria, you may still be eligible for learner support which could cover the cost of the course fees. Eligibility is subject to providing evidence.
