Our free numeracy courses are for individuals: - resident in North Northamptonshire, aged 19 and over - that have not achieved a maths GCSE of at least a Grade C or equivalent - who may want to develop numeracy skills for work or progression - that want to brush up and develop their numeracy skills for everyday life.

Course aim
Learners to develop their confidence and skills in Maths with a specific and targeted focus on Number. This will allow learners to confidently progress on to achieve the next level of qualification and/or apply their knowledge, skills and understanding into their workplace environment with increased confidence. The course is designed for those learners who wish to develop their understanding of Number related math skills with a view to applying into their work setting or using a step towards further qualifications.

Course outcomes
To recognise and use accurately vocabulary relating to number-based maths topics. To develop and apply effective written methods for each of the four operations. To develop effective mental math strategies to help solve real-life and contextualised problems. To develop understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages including the relationships between them. To accurately calculate fractions and percentages of amounts. To understand ratio and solve problems involving ratio within context.
