Description

To be able to communicate with people who are deaf or have hearing loss, through the medium of basic sign language  

Course aim
To enable you to hold a simple conversation in the language on general topics using different tenses and to be able to write a short email or letter.

Course outcomes
a) Write a simple letter or email using different tenses. b) Demonstrate an ability to use vocabulary on a range of general topics and daily activities c) Talk about past and future events using longer sentences d) Demonstrate an appreciation of some of the customs and culture of the countries where the language is spoken

How will the course be taught?
A communicative approach. All four skills (speaking, reading, listening & writing) are practised, with the main emphasis on speaking. Learners engage in interactive language activities participating in group & pair work. Learners will also be offered guidance in self-study and set optional homework tasks.

Could I gain a certificate?
At least 1 year's previous study (part 1) or equivalent to foundation GCSE.

What do I need to bring / have ready?
Writing materials, small dictionary. You may wish to purchase the course book, the tutor will advise you.
