This qualification is ideal for learners looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education's (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workplace. You do not need to have any previous experience or qualification in working with children to undertake this qualification.

Course aim
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to seven years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education's (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce. Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early Years Educator status.

How will the course be taught?
This qualification is ideal for learners looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. You do not need to have previous experience or qualification in working with children to undertake this qualification. The topics are delivered using thematic approach and include The Role of the Early Years Practitioner Legislation Well-Being and Safeguarding Development and Play Partnership working Behaviour The Current Framework You will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills. You will need to complete 250 placements hours whilst undertaking this qualification. This will mean a clear DBS needs to be obtained. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. Knowledge-based outcomes can be assessed using non-mandatory assessment tasks (provided in this specification for Tutors' convenience). Skills-based outcomes must be achieved with reference to a real work environment and must include direct observation within the workplace.

Could I gain a certificate?
This course is accredited by the awarding body NCFE CACHE. On successful completion of all elements of the course, you will receive a Level 2 certificate.

What do I need to bring / have ready?
All our learning resources are available on our online platform Google Classroom. However, you may wish to bring a pen and notepad to make notes. If this is an online course, a laptop, PC or tablet and a stable internet connection will be needed.

Further Information
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner within the Early Years Workforce. Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as: Nursery practitioner Classroom assistant Pre-school practitioner.

Entry requirements
Entry Requirements: You should be 19+ by 31.08 in the academic year you wish to study This course requires a grade D/3 in English GCSE or equivalent (Functional skills: level 1) Please note: You will be required to complete an online initial assessment to join this course. Admissions Process: After you register your interest a member of our team will contact you to arrange the next steps. General Information: In the unlikely event that you are unable to complete the course and need to withdraw there is a withdrawal fee of £100. Eligibility: If you are in receipt of Jobseekers allowance, ESA or any other means-tested UK benefit (and your income excluding benefits is less than £617 per month or £988 per month for joint benefit claim), or you are employed and earning less than £20,319 per year you will be eligible to attend this course for the free. Even if you don't meet these criteria, you may still be eligible for learner support which could cover the cost of the course fees. Eligibility is subject to providing evidence.
