Register Your Interest
Essential Digital Skills courses are free courses that give you the opportunity to gain a qualification up to level 1. They are designed to enable you to develop the digital skills you need for life, work or further study as set out in the national standards for Essential Digital Skills. The course will teach you the 5 skill areas:-
- Using devices and handling information
- Creating and editing
- Communicating
- Transacting
- Being safe and responsible online

Courses start throughout the year, subject to sufficient interest. You will be contacted when the next course is available for enrolment.

What will I learn?
You will develop your confidence in Essential Digital Skills and gain a certificate at the level appropriate to your learning. You will learn how to use devices and handle information, know how to create and edit documents. know how to communicate and complete transactions, and how to be safe and responsible online.

What will I need to take part?
We recommend that you have a pencil, a pen and a notepad during the session, resources are provided in Google Classroom. Laptops will be provided in venues for face-to-face learning. If this course takes place online, a laptop, PC or tablet and a stable internet connection will be needed.

How will the course be taught?
Step by steps tasks, discussion, and support from your tutor. You will also be asked to complete an initial assessment prior to starting this course so that we can assign you to a course appropriate to your level of learning.

Where can it lead to?
You could gain a Gateway qualification at the level appropriate to your learning. Having developed your skills and knowledge in the course subject, you could try other courses or use the skills you have learned in your work or personal life.

Course eligibility and fees
Learners who are eligible for full funding from the ESFA will not be charged a fee for any aspect of the course, including exams, resources or awarding organisation registration and fees.
