The course aims to explore what it meant to be Roman, drawing on examples from the ancient city of Rome and the broader Empire it looks at a range of topics including religions and beliefs, architecture, public life and entertainment, the Roman army, life in the cities, towns and countryside, and trade and industry. The course is divided into two sessions with a break for lunch (not provided), and will be of interest to those who would like to know a bit more about the Roman world.
